My Favorite Memories

I have many memories at my middle school, and here are my top three. My first favorite memory is when I had been hopping around friend groups for pretty much the whole school year and 3 months ago, I found a friend group that I really like and there are many people that I know. The second memory when in Olympics, I hit an inside-the-park grand slam, which is where you run around the bases in one play with all bases occupied. The score was 1-4 and we were losing and I hit a ball over a fielder’s head. By the end of that play, we were up 5-4. My best memory from 7th grade was when I actually felt like I belonged with my middle school. This was my first year, and I already tons of friends going to 8th grade.

20% Week 6- The Final One

Since this is the last blog, I figured I would just tell you everything that went on. My 20% project was training my dog. Why did I want to train my dog? Simple. My dog needed training. My original goal was to keep her from running out of the house. I kind of did? I’ll get back to that later. The first trick my mom and I tried to teach her was place. If someone comes over, she usually runs over to the doors and jumps on them when they come in. We tried to get her to her “place” which is just a cushion on the floor, but she wouldn’t listen for anything. So we had to scrap that idea. Next was down. It’s pretty much another version of place, as when she jumps on someone, we just say down and she gets off. She’s been listening to that really well, so that helps. She already knew this, but I might as well mention it. She already knew sit, but she has gotten worse when we go on walks. She gets all excited and jumps on my other dog and she’s just weird. My sister and I also taught her to shake (points to picture), where she just gives us her paw. She is really good at that one. We also tried to teach her down , but I guess she doesn’t lay down. She just does it whenever I guess. Another trick well I guess not a trick, we taught her to stay. Whenever she goes to a sit position, we say stay and she stays right there until we say break. Break is a release so whenever we say stay, we can walk around the corner and she won’t run for us. Overall, this was a great experience spending time with my dog, and what I learned about myself. I learned that not everything is just going to be handed to you. You have to work hard to achieve your goal. But for me, I didn’t achieve my original goal.

Deep Meanings

In the photo at the bottom, you could probably tell what’s going on in it. The boy on the left is being spoiled and acting sad and being mad even though he has everything right in front of him. He probably wants more toys and is mad at his parents for not getting him new toys. On the left however, this young boy is happy with what he has. In the photo, it shows that he doesn’t have much and is making the best out of what he has. He doesn’t have a bedroom full of toys and stuffed animals, he has a toy car (a.k.a. lawnmower) that either his parents or himself built just for him to be happy. “Happiness and satisfaction in life depends on how much is considered enough.” That is exactly what is shown in this picture. The overall message is to be grateful for what you have, because other people might not have what you get.

Getting Better!- 20% Week 5

Lyla has continued to jump on my whenever I come home from practice or pretty much anything. It’s getting annoying, but the off command is working really well. When I walk her, I try to keep her behind my foot so that she doesn’t feel like she’s in control. I think I may have said that last week, but it’s fine. My mom has been helping me with the command place. As I’ve mentioned in earlier blogs, place will teach her to sit on a little cushion we have so she doesn’t go jumping on everyone. She’s also been taught by my older dog that barking is ok, which it isn’t. She’s been barking way too much, so I’ll have to teach her not to bark. She is a really smart dog, but all she needs is the right training.

Rad Reading- May

Wow! It’s already the last (or second to last, I don’t remember) Rad Reading of the year! Well anyways, this morning, I’ve decided to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball by Jeff Kinney. The plot of the book is Greg’s family is trying to find a new house because their old house is beat up. Rowley, Greg’s best friend, does not take it so well. However, Greg still needs to sell the house to buy the new house. So, the question is, will he move? The book was honestly really funny with a lot of jokes in it and it’s kind of relatable with Susan, Greg’s mom. She always has thing for the occasion like for her, she has a whole collection of books for one specific time. My favorite character is also Susan. She is really involved in the book and she has some really funny moments. “Dad was frustrated I wasn’t paying attention, and he asked me what I’m gonna do if I ever get stuck by the side of the road with a flat tire. I told him I’m planning on buying a WHISTLE, and I’ll just blow it if I ever need help.” That is my favorite quote from the book because it shows how lazy Greg is and how he will do anything to not do anything.

The Best Room

There are many different rooms in a household, but there is only one correct answer to the question, “What is the best room in a house?” There are many different opinions, but the correct answer is the bedroom. Almost every teenager would say their bedroom because then you could just sleep and relax on your bed. And I agree with almost every teenager. Other people might say the living room because you get to sit on a comfy couch and watch TV all day. I personally don’t watch TV, but I believe a bed is WAY more comfy than a couch. Also, there might be video games in your room that you play a lot. For me, that is my Nintendo Switch and my computer. A bedroom is just way better than any other room in the house.

Making Progress 20% Week 4

Welcome back to Week 4 of the 20% project. My mom helped me train Lyla. It was pretty much forced anyways. I was making dinner and we didn’t have any eggs, so we had to Albertsons to get them. I was riding my bike while my mom was walking her. We had a trainer come over for our previous dog that we had to give away, but we remembered that dogs aren’t supposed to go past your foot while walking because if they do, that makes them feel like they are the leader, not you. She has gotten way better at off though. Whenever I come home, her first instinct is to jumó on me. My mom had suggested teaching her off in Week One I believe. It has really helping when I don’t want dog hair all over my clothes. Like I said last week, she has started to bark a lot more, so when she barks, I either tap her on her side, or I kinda just hold her “beak” down. That’s what we call their snout. I also hold down her snout whenever she nibbles on my hand. It usually takes about 2-3 tries to get her to stop biting, and then after that she starts licking my hand. It works every time, so hopefully she gets the message.

Lots of Different Things 20% Week 2

This week, I had a better start than last week. First, my mom suggested that I teach her not to jump on the couch because Lyla was getting her fur all over the couch. So whenever she jumps on the couch, I kind of push her off. I’m also continuing to teach her off (when she jumps on someone, we can say off). She has been doing well with off, but she needs more work on down, a command that gets her to lay down. I have just gotten a RC car and whenever it moves, she starts barking, so she definitely needs some work with barking. It’s been getting really annoying hearing her ear-piercing bark ALL DAY EVERY DAY. She’s still really good at sit, but I’m working on stay for the past few days as well. I would have to do all of those things in a matter on 3 days, because I get to my mom’s house on Sunday

Back to the Basics… 20% Week 3

Ok so, Lyla is NOT remembering shake, stay, or even sit! So I had to reteach her those. This time she picked it up really well but she is struggling a little bit still with stay. But she still bites your hands whenever you try to let her. Whenever she tried biting my hands, I just said, “No!” And she usually just stops biting. When she doesn’t listen, I tap her on the side and say no. That time around she gets it and stops biting. I haven’t been training her on place, so I have to pick that up as well. She has really mellowed down from the start, but I don’t think that is good for my 20% project because I need her to act up so I could have the opportunity to actually train her. Today was a short little blog because there wasn’t much going on.

Time for Dinner!

Out of all the people in the world, my top three people that I would invite to dinner are Trea Turner, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. One of the reasons I would invite all three is that they are my three favorite Major League Baseball players. My favorite of those three would have to be Trea Turner because he is an awesome baseball player. Areason that I would invite them is that they are all very nice in baseball, and I would guess that they would be respectful at dinner. The dinner would probably be somewhere fancy, like Club 33. Club 33 is a fancy restaurant in Disneyland that costs a one time fee of $25,000 and a yearly fee of $10,000 just to be a member. We would also have a nice, juicy steak with a drink of our choice. My favorite drink is a shirley temple, so I would order that as well. Dessert would be a nice gelato with whipped cream on top.
